Bordeaux

Home to the greatest and some of the worst wines in the world. 247,000 acres divided into 37 regions, with 13,000 producers churning out around 660 million bottles per years, hence the diversity in quality!

We are bravely trying to sample wines from all thirteen thousand producers, but it will take time.

In the meantime we are delighted to list the following reds, as we believe them to offer quality and value. These wines are available in good quantities, for bin ends please see this page.

Chateau De Maison Neuve

2000
Red
£8.99

Montagne Saint-Emilion

An excellent as well as historic vintage. 80% merlot in this easy going offering, ready now.

Chateau Grand Pey Lescours

1998
Red
£12.99

Saint-emilion grand Cru Classe

70% merlot, 20% cabernet franc, 10% cabernet sauvignon. Classic Saint-Emilion style fruit from an outstanding right bank vintage. Drinking beautifully now with time in hand.

Chateau Du Tailhas

1999
Red
£14.99

Pomerol

Predominately merlot, aged for twelve months in oak barrels. Robert Parker says of the '99 vintage "realistic and fair prices..some of the best values in Bordeaux today". This wine has evolved dramatically during the last year and is drinking well now and may be kept. Lovely wine, typically Pomerol.

Chateau Colombier-Monpelou

2000
Red
£15.99

Pauillac Cru Bourgeois

Typical Paulliac blend, with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon. This Chateau occupies an enviable position on the high plateau above Pauillac, near Mouton Rothschild. A wine which is not common in Britain; the French have a habit of keeping their best wines for themselves! The old vines have given us a very good Pauillac, drink now or cellar for a couple of years.
